Are the materials heat-resistant or waterproof?

The heat resistance and waterproof qualities of 3D printing filaments vary depending on the material used. Here’s what you should know:

Heat Resistance:

  • PLALow heat resistance; softens around 60°C (140°F). Not ideal for hot environments.

  • PETGModerate heat resistance, up to 75°C (167°F); better for warm conditions.

  • ABSHigh heat resistance, withstands up to ~105°C (221°F); good for automotive or outdoor parts.

  • Nylon & ASAExcellent heat resistance, durable even in high-temperature applications.

Water Resistance:

  • PLA & PETGWater-resistant, but not fully waterproof; PETG performs better in humid conditions.

  • ABS & ASAMore resistant to water but may degrade over long exposure to moisture.

  • Nylon & TPUFlexible and highly water-resistant, good for gaskets, seals, or outdoor use.

If you need a print that can withstand heat or prolonged water exposure, PETG, ABS, ASA, or Nylon are your best options. Let me know if you need help choosing the right material!
